6" Traditional Railing System

A mid-size 6" rail for traditional porches, decks and garden terraces. RAL2105 (6" × 4") is sold by the foot. RAL2119 is a taller 6" × 5½" alternative, and RAL2106 is a top-only cap rail.

What goes into each railing section

• Rails: one top rail and one bottom rail per section from the RAL2105, RAL2119, RAL2106 family. They come in 8, 10 or 12 ft lengths and are cut to fit between posts.
• Balusters: 70 Spectis baluster styles whose own product listings say they fit these rails. Spacing follows the 4-inch sphere rule.
• Newel post and cap: NP2206 smooth 8" newel post with the NC2305 pyramid cap, as pictured with RAL2105 in the Spectis catalog. Anchor it with KIN04-W (wood) or KIN04-C (concrete).
• Newel posts that fit: none yet. No Spectis newel post is within about 1" of this rail width. Ask us about posts, columns or custom options.
• Installation pieces: One KIR01 rail kit per top/bottom pair, and SUP03 (4") or SUP04 (2") support blocks.

Picking baluster height

Finished height ≈ support block + bottom rail (4") + baluster + top rail (4"), using RAL2105 dimensions. This is a planning estimate only. Check local code (typically 36" for homes and 42" for guards) and the drawing for each part before ordering. Rails end at newels, columns or walls and are never joined to one another.
