Which Spectis Piece Goes Where: Porch, Gable, Window, Ceiling
Porch. A hollow column wraps a post that already carries the load. A structural column, with a 4-1/2 inch steel core, is the part that can hold the porch. Brackets and corbels under the eave are accents, not framing. Measure projection from the finished wall to the fascia.
Gable. An open louver passes air. A closed louver is the look without the air path. A sunburst is a fan, not a vent, unless the plate says the face is open.
Window. Brick mould frames the opening. The sill is the shelf at the bottom. Shutters are decorative trim beside the window, not an operable storm shutter. A pediment, crosshead, or keystone dresses the head.
Ceiling. A drop-in panel sits in a suspended grid. CP2904 is 23-5/8 inches for a 24-by-24 opening. A medallion or a glue-up panel goes on plaster or drywall, not in the grid.
