Description
CAP100-10
Made when you order it. It is not a piece kept on a shelf. Order from the drawing. The photo is the profile, not a tape measure.
Shipping
A cap or a base on its own typically ships UPS.
Add a column or a post and the shipment goes LTL freight, not UPS.
Freight needs a verified commercial address that a 52-foot trailer can pull into. A house with a business in it does not qualify. If the carrier calls the address a residence, a $275 fee is added. You get a confirmation letter, and you can correct the address or pay the extra freight.
The order goes to the Spectis plant in Manitoba the same day. Shipping from Canada typically takes two to three weeks.
How to measure
Size the cap or base to the shaft, at the height where it will sit. Do not match it to the outside of a wrap and assume it will slide on.
Round shaft. Wrap a tape around the shaft and divide by 3.14, or use a caliper. That diameter is what the opening has to clear.
Square shaft. Measure all four faces and both diagonals. An out-of-square post will bind if you only measured one side.
The drawing shows the opening. If this piece is going over steel, a Lally column, or a wood post, use that opening, not the nominal size of the post.
How to read the size
The width or diameter and the height are the numbers in the product name and on the drawing. Height is the shaft you are ordering. Do not add a cap and a base and expect them to make the column taller unless the drawing says the height includes them.
How it goes up
Set the shaft plumb in the opening. Bed the joints with PL Premium. Use PL Premium on every bedding face and every joint. It is urethane based. Other adhesives can damage the product. Buy PL Premium. Nails and finish are sold separately.

Questions
What is it made of?
High density polyurethane. It cuts, nails, and glues like wood, and it is used inside and outside. Installed properly, it will not rot, warp, or crack. It ships double primed and ready for latex paint. No sanding, and no extra primer.
Can this go outside?
Yes. Columns and posts are used on porches and entries. The same material is used inside.
Which glue?
Use PL Premium on every bedding face and every joint. It is urethane based. Other adhesives can damage the product. Buy PL Premium. Nails and finish are sold separately.
Is it structural?
It is sold in the structural column line. Use the drawing for the shaft size. This page does not add a load rating that is not on the drawing.
Can I return it?
No. It is made for your order. Confirm the height and the profile against the drawing before you buy.
How does it ship?
A cap or a base typically ships UPS. If the order also includes a column or a post, the whole shipment goes LTL freight to a verified commercial address a 52-foot trailer can pull into. A house with a business in it does not qualify. If the carrier calls the address a residence, a $275 fee is added, and you get a confirmation letter so you can correct the address or pay the extra freight.
What if it arrives damaged?
Inspect it when it is delivered and tell the carrier right away so they can file a claim. Email sales@spectis.us the same day. If we are not told within 24 hours, Spectis cannot qualify the items for a claim.
Builders, designers, and customers: if Spectis products or the installation steps are modified, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Veritas Products LLC, veritasproducts.com, and spectis.us from any claimed loss or damage, regardless of other instructions.
