Description
CLM100-10-12
It ships double primed. Paint it after it is installed. Write the profile number down if you are matching columns that are already up.
Shipping
A column or a post is a long piece. It does not ship UPS.
Freight delivers to a verified commercial address a 52-foot trailer can pull into. A house with a business in it does not qualify.
If the carrier decides the address is a residence, a $275 fee is added. You get a confirmation letter so you can correct the address or pay the extra freight.
The order goes to the Spectis plant in Manitoba the same day. Shipping from Canada typically takes two to three weeks.
How to measure
Measure the opening before you order. The name on this page is the shaft size, not a guess from a photo.
Round. Wrap a tape around the shaft where the cap or base will sit, and divide that distance by 3.14. That is the diameter. A caliper at that same height works too.
Square. Measure each face, not just one. Then measure both diagonals. A shaft can be slightly out of square, or narrower at the top if it tapers.
Height. Measure from the bottom bearing point to the top bearing point. Look at the drawing to see whether a cap and a base add to that height or only wrap the shaft.
How to read the size
The width or diameter and the height are the numbers in the product name and on the drawing. Height is the shaft you are ordering. Do not add a cap and a base and expect them to make the column taller unless the drawing says the height includes them.
How it goes up
Set the shaft plumb in the opening. Bed the joints with PL Premium. Use PL Premium on every bedding face and every joint. It is urethane based. Other adhesives can damage the product. Buy PL Premium. Nails and finish are sold separately.

Questions
What is it made of?
High density polyurethane. It cuts, nails, and glues like wood, and it is used inside and outside. Installed properly, it will not rot, warp, or crack. It ships double primed and ready for latex paint. No sanding, and no extra primer.
Can this go outside?
Yes. Columns and posts are used on porches and entries. The same material is used inside.
Which glue?
Use PL Premium on every bedding face and every joint. It is urethane based. Other adhesives can damage the product. Buy PL Premium. Nails and finish are sold separately.
Can it be split in half?
Yes. A decorative column can be split in half for $40. Glue the halves back together with PL Premium.
Is it structural?
Only if the drawing says so. This page does not add a load rating.
Can I return it?
No. It is made for your order. Confirm the height and the profile against the drawing before you buy.
How does it ship?
These are long pieces. They ship LTL freight only, to a verified commercial address a 52-foot trailer can pull into. A house with a business in it does not qualify. If the carrier calls the address a residence, a $275 fee is added. You get a confirmation letter, and you can correct the address or pay the extra freight.
What if it arrives damaged?
Inspect it when it is delivered and tell the carrier right away so they can file a claim. Email sales@spectis.us the same day. If we are not told within 24 hours, Spectis cannot qualify the items for a claim.
Builders, designers, and customers: if Spectis products or the installation steps are modified, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Veritas Products LLC, veritasproducts.com, and spectis.us from any claimed loss or damage, regardless of other instructions.
